THEATER GROUP PLA I REVÉS
'Tanqueu a l’eixir' reflects how pathetic four men—“four true men of good standing”—can become out of the need to find a place to live, no matter what it takes.
Pla i Revés, the emblematic amateur theater company of Altea founded in 1979, is the resident company at Palau Altea.Since its inception, Pla i Revés has established itself as a cultural pillar in the town, initially standing out for staging sainetes (short, comedic plays) and, shortly thereafter, for 'La Passió', unique in its genre and performed in Valencian, which marked a milestone in the region’s theatrical tradition and was performed uninterruptedly for thirty-five years.
Throughout its trajectory, the company, besides being one of the founding groups of the Valencian Community Amateur Theater Federation, has consolidated its role as a cultural driver, annually staging “the arrival of Christ to the Altea bay” at the beginning of the patron saint festivities, maintaining the tradition with 'La Passió' and the frozen scenes of the Via Crucis during Holy Week, as well as performing charity shows for organizations such as the Red Cross and Cáritas.
With more than forty productions and several awards to its name, Pla i Revés has also distinguished itself as an organizer—together with the Altea Town Hall and its Department of Culture—of ALTEATRE, a national amateur theater festival that has already reached twenty-three editions.
